Marquette Ending Hunger, the official student organization, was officially founded on April 26th, 2013.
The first meeting was held on Thursday, September 12th, 2013 on NMU’s campus in the University Center. For the Fall of 2013, meetings were held every other Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the University Center.
On Saturday, September 21st, Van Antwerp Hall won Northern Michigan University’s Homecoming Event “Change That Makes Cents”, and donated their winnings (a total of $762.38) to Marquette Ending Hunger.
October 10th began the Marquette Ending Hunger community outreach, where students from the group went out to local businesses with flyers and information regarding the group.
On October 26th, a small group of Marquette Ending Hunger students participated in NMU's Make A Difference Day.
On October 28th, the official poll was posted to Facebook pertaining to upcoming events and fundraisers.
November 6th-7th Marquette Ending Hunger raised $250.13 in our bake sale with the help of the Culinary Students of Northern Michigan University and generous individuals who donated.
November 11th-December 6th TV 6 Canathon!
November 21st Marquette Ending Hunger hosted the Squat Hunger Game at our Bring a Buddy meeting.
December 2nd-13th Sabrina Wheeler's Senior Art Show in the Devos Art Museum focused on Marquette Ending Hunger and raising awareness about hunger and the challenges of poverty.
December 4th Marquette Ending Hunger speaks to the public at the Ore Dock and ASNMU's Event "Clubs, Brews and Tunes".
November 11th-December 6th TV 6 Canathon.
January 30th The Social Justice Committe and Marquette Ending Hunger presented "An Evening of Class", a hunger awareness and social justice awareness builder for NMU students and faculty. This collaboration resulted in The Social Justice Committee being awarded the NMU Leadership Banquet's "Event of the Year" award.
February 9th Payne Hall hosted a pasta dinner, proceeds were donated to Marquette Ending Hunger.
February 20th, Raj Patel presented "How to Sustainably Feed 10 billion People"
March 16th, Presentation of the Documentary "A Place at the Table" in the Hunt/Van Antwerp lobby
March 27th, Lauren Larsen at the Environmental Science Organization's "Down to Earth Week" regarding sustainable food resources.
April 6th, The Executive Board of Marquette Ending Hunger was elected for the academic year 2014-2015.
April 13th Nearly Naked Mile and Sausage Fest (Van Antwerp) raised ______ to be donated to Marquette Ending Hunger.
May 1st, a few members aided Joy Bender Hadley and Sabrina Wheeler (from Northstar Academy) in glazing pottery for the Empty Bowls charity event.
